OPERATION MULTITRACE Model MT 16 RT takes the hassle out of conductor identification, by being able to check and record the number of each conductor in a multicore cable, in a time efficient way. The TRANSMITTER is connected to 16 cable conductors at a time, with its 16 numbered red crocodile clips. The single black unnumbered clip is connected to the cable sheath, an identified conductor or good ground. The toggle switch is operated and the red LED starts flashing indicating that the transmitter is on. The RECEIVER is now taken to the other end of the cable by the operator. It has 2 leads with red and black crocodile clips. The black clip is connected to the cable sheath, and identified conductor or good ground; corresponding to the connection of the black clip of the transmitter at the other end. This provides a return path between receiver and transmitter. It should be ensured that the conductors being identified do not carry any voltage. Now the red crocodile clip of the receiver is brought into contact with any of the 16 conductors, one at a time. If the red clip comes into contact with any of the 16 conductors connected to the transmitter, the appropriate conductor number will be displayed on the receiver's liquid crystal display. Both the transmitter and the receiver are powered by 9 volts batteries. |
