The Battery Impedance Tester is an advanced battery testing equipment for BSNL, MTNL, Cellular Operators, Basic Telecom Service Providers, IT Companies, Power Plants etc. At present VRLA batteries are being used in their power plants for switching exchanges, cell sites etc. The VRLA batteries are the weak link in any telecom system and have a tendency to fail without warning despite float / open circuit voltages showing satisfactory readings. Until recently, the commonly used method to determine battery health was to perform a load test. Although reliable, the method has proven to be cumbersome, time consuming, expensive and risky. An alternative to load testing is the impedance comparison method. This methodology has been approved by TEC and is a part of IEEE standard 1188-1996. Our Battery Impedance Tester uses a proprietary technique to read the impedance value of the battery each time the probes are placed on the terminals. The AC impedance is read directly in milliohms on the LCD display. The Battery Impedance Tester can also measure/record cell/battery terminal voltage and can be used for testing battery interconnection resistance as well. The Battery Impedance Tester has adequate memory for storing the readings and a compact serial dot matrix printer for taking a hard copy of the measurements. The Battery Impedance Tester is provided with RS 232 port for connecting to PC for later analysis of measurement, with customized software being provided as part of the package. For efficient gathering of data and to facilitate automatic tracking of impedances of particular cells over a period of time, a bar code scanner can be connected to the equipment and cell details (e.g. number) can be scanned. The measurements of cell voltage/impedance is automatically correlated to the cell details scanned. Complete hardware and software for generating and applying bar codes to battery bank is provided. |
